PROSECUTOR DAN KASARIS SWEARS UNDER OATH HE ISN’T A PROSECUTOR
Senior Assistant Ohio Attorney General Dan Kasaris recently informed the federal judiciary that he “has no independent authority to prosecute” anyone because he only works at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, not in a city or county prosecutor’s office.  We said that was nonsense in a recent court filing and attached a copy of Mr. Kasaris’s Linked In profile which said he is the “Deputy Cuyahoga County Prosecutor.”  But Mr. Kasaris responded that “Until March 1, 2017, my linked In Profile was out of date … I have never, either currently or in the past, served as an employee of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office at the same time.”  But in 2014, Mr. Kasaris was appointed Deputy Cuyahoga County Prosecutor by Tim McGinty — a position he holds to this very day — then prosecuted Anthony Cafaro, Martin Yavorcik and dozens of other citizens in that capacity.   Mr. Kasaris’s own legal filings over the past several years claim he is the “Deputy Cuyahoga County Prosecutor.”
Prosecutor Kasaris also misrepresented his employment in a recent affidavit, claiming that “my only employment since August, 2013 has been with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.”  But Mr. Kasaris has served as the President of the North Boston Home Owner’s Association for many years, collecting $160,000 in “association” fees.  But the versatile Mr. Kasaris — who also earns nearly $20,000 as a North Royalton City Councilman — failed to report his position at North Boston on campaign disclosure reports or to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, which must approve all outside income of any prosecutors, see Kasaris affidavit, Docket # 21, Case # 2:16-cv-1036, S.D.
